Well what a great gig.
Many thanks to all those who braved the bot and steamy night, to come into the even hotter and even steamier Brunswick venue. I think it was worth it though to see the big band playing a really great and fun packed set.
Lots of our new material was on show, from Big Swing Face from the Buddy Rich big band, to some more old school Ted Heath material with Henry IX along with many others. Noel was happy with us playing the theme tune from his favourite TV show, and we didn’t let John count in a single number all night…. (Cheer!).
Great to Hear Gary singing once again with the big band, returning to some of his old favourites. At the last Brunswick performance a couple of months ago he had sung all new material. It was great to see that the Gary Wright Fan Club had also found their way down to our new venue in Brighton… at last …
Gary was also making himself busy with the camera, so there are pictures of the gig which you can see here
Many thanks to the deps who came and guested with the band for the night, including a few familiar faces along with a new one. Paul Satchwell, Tim Wade, (trombones) Dave Moorhouse,(trumpet) Dave Eastman, (tenor) and one more who I have forgotten…. (Bari) (remind me….) We hope to see them all again at a gig soon.
Next date at the Brunswick is not confirmed yet, but Simon is deep in negotiations with the management, but after this one, I can’t wait.
